Recent tour of India has brutally exposed that how vulnerable and easily assailable we are on exotic destinations especially to a pitch that offers tremendous uneven bounce and fiery pace. We have been routed in all branches of cricket and English players are bestriding over us as colossus. It has severely jeopardized our position of being top notchers as our ranking has been relegated to an abysmal low. The rollicking victory of England assumes more significance in the wake of very fact that it has thrashed a country which has recently brought much coveted trophy in arena of cricket that is World Cup. This defeat has given a strong assertion that our victory was a mere aberration and was not an outcome of consistent performance. Never in history there has been such a disgraceful decline of a reigning Team. Apparently it has been brought to the fore that our Tigers are pseudo ,toothless and senile enough to even pose a serious threat .Such sorry state of affairs originated since mercenary forces crept in cricketing world and started minting money out of this sport by grossly disregarding canons of cricketing ethics.Teammates became oblivious to coordinate as unit in hours of peril and easily succumbed to top class swing bowling. Our so called acclaimed openers looked jittery and prone to basic follies while essaying strokes. Their lack of preparedness was well exhibited when they handled the ball like novice.They could not even stick to basic rules of playing and were easily scalped by formidable British attack .Our predicament started since wounded Zaheer left us .We could not recover from this setback and went on creating new records of successive defeats. Save gritty Rahul no one could brave and exploit antagonistic British conditions .His was the only class and sublimity that saved Indian pride from being torn asunder .At numerous occasions he emerged as savior but could not avert inevitable Indian defeat. Praveen kumar too had some scintillating success but he was not well backed by quality bowlers. Same trail of unending miseries haunted the team even in ODI,s and T20. Ouster of Rohit further sealed Team,s chances as it could not find much of its edge and thrust of Batting.
Alas! At times we fought valiantly but could not hold our nerves till the end. Destiny too conspired against us as we lost many games with wafer thin margins .Such defeats should serve as eye opener and rectifier in spotting and subsequently cleansing Indian cricket from its putrescence.
